Meals bring people together in ways that few other things can. Since October 2006, The University Catholic Catholic Center at Emory University has been bringing residents of the American Red Cross Hope Lodge and their families together by serving a free home cooked dinner every month. Volunteers like yourself assist in meal preparation, serving, and cleaning up after dinner - we would love to have you!

Volunteer Details

Help us cook and serve dinner to the residents of Hope Lodge on the second Monday of each month. We begin with meal preparation at 4:00 PM and serve dinner at 6:00 PM. Please expect to stay through clean up, which is usually completed by 7:00 PM.

As a volunteer, you will be tasked with helping to prepare, cook, set up the serving line, serve the residents, and clean up afterward. You do not need to know how to cook: if you can follow directions, we'll make it easy for you! Also, eating with the residents is highly encouraged - the food and the company are enjoyable and volunteers have found this to be a great experience!

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Helen O'Shea at hoshea@emory.edu.

Please be aware: it is extremely important that you do not come if you are sick or have symptoms of any potential illness, as the patients are often immune suppressed and are very susceptible to viruses and bacteria.
